Who watches the watchers

Who watches the watchers? When it comes to the vaccination status of the federal government’s vaccine cops, it turns out: no one.  In January, a 5-4 Supreme Court decision ruled that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services could continue requiring the healthcare providers and suppliers it certified to ensure their staff — including employees, volunteers and anyone else providing care — are vaccinated against COVID-19 if they wanted to remain eligible for federal funding. Initially, the surveyors who oversee compliance with this mandate were also required to be vaccinated, but in a June 16 memo, CMS simply gave them a pass: This “guidance does not include any possibilities of penalties for noncompliance,” and the federal government “prohibits facilities from inquiring about surveyor vaccination status,” it wrote. Meaning: The government’s own mandate enforcers aren’t expected to follow the very rules they’re enforcing.  CMS exempted the vaccine mandate overseers themselves from

During the experiment, scientists compared two groups of mice - a control group, and a group whose Piezo1 levels had been disrupted for 10 weeks. Walking, climbing and running wheel activity was observed, with the Piezo1 mice showing a striking reduction in activity levels. This suggested an important role for Piezo1 in sustaining normal physical activity The researchers considered whether the Piezo1 mice were less interested in exercise, but they found no differences in the amount or duration of activity between the two groups. Instead, there were fewer running wheel revolutions per exercise session, and slower running speed, suggesting a lowered ability to exercise, without a lesser desire Lead author Fiona Bartoli, a Postdoctoral Researcher in the University of Leeds' School of Medicine, said, "Exercise protects against cardiovascular disease, diabetes, depression and cancer. Unfortunately, many people fail to exercise enough, for reasons such as injury and computer usage.

FIFA are among the sporting bodies

The Mail on Sunday revealed that FIFA had drafted radical rules which would allow footballers to compete as their self-identified gender, meaning trans women could take part in female football regardless of their testosterone levels. That was welcomed by human rights experts but criticised by sports scientists who feel this would compromise fairness. However, just days later, it is thought FIFA could instead align themselves with FINA’s stance. Football’s governing body told Sportsmail they are still consulting on their gender eligibility regulations and are taking guidance ‘from many stakeholders — medical, legal, scientific/performance and human rights — as well as the IOC Framework on Fairness, Inclusion and Non-discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity and Sex Variations’. Mention of the Intentional Olympic Committee is telling, with the IOC last year saying there should be no assumption that a trans athlete automatically has an unfair advantage in female events.   Big Crowds Take to London Streets to Protest Soaring Costs LONDON — Thousands of people marched through central London on Saturday in a protest over the soaring cost of living in Britain. Huge crowds flooded into the British capital for the rally to demand that the government do more to help people faced with bills and other expenses that are rising more quickly than their wages.
